What
did you learn from this course?
I learned the art of being a facilitator.
Despite how the information is presented to the learners each of them will
process the information differently based on their own reasoning styles, and in
order to be a good facilitator one must be able to understand the cognitive
styles and their differences I learned the art of delegation. The plans and
assignments need to be written and planned out as much as possible. It is best
to break tasks and assignments down and divide and conquer them. Personally, this
semester has been my hardest, not because of school but due to personal issues
and situations, but having a solid group help me to not lose grasp on the continent
of the class. One thing graduate school has taught me is the importance of
group work and maximizing one another’s strengths. The biggest surprise for
me was the variants of learning styles and theories, some things I never realize
that were backed up by science. I used to think that the responsibility to
learn was solely on the student but I have since learned that the facilitator
has a responsibility as well.
How do you think the project was able to help you understand the practical field and the theories?

Hi Tally from Group 1,
ReplyDeleteI, too, have a whole new appreciation for the abilities of the facilitator thanks to this course! It really makes you self-reflect on your skills as a facilitator. I immediately recognized some of my weaknesses in this area. And, of course, as I look back on some of my training experiences as a group learner, I understand why we were engaged in some of the learning activities that I was not particularly fond of. I think I will be a better learner in the future thanks to this course.
Another thing that hit home for me is the group project setup. I agree it is important to work in a group and life can really get in the way of coordinating group schedules. I am so thankful that I had an effective and efficient group, and it sounds like you had the same situation.
Reading the content helps but doing the syllabus review was challenging and interesting. I really liked the opportunity to do this as a group after looking at all the work involved in the project. I do agree with you on being able to see examples of other students' work from previous classes. This was very helpful and served as an excellent starter template for our project.
I enjoyed watching your video. I hope you have a great week!
