Final Showcase
What did you learn from this course?
This course was essential to my learning of how adults learn and how the process can look different in every learning styles and how the environment effects learning. Each topic dictated on how how these ways of learning was beneficial. There is a significant difference on how a child learns vs an adult learner. At a post-secondary level it brings a perspective of students ability to be able understand content taught in the classroom and the job training in a vocational setting. Understanding these concepts helps me as I move forward in my careers
What do you suggest to better support your learning? What are your suggestions for future students?
I believe time is the best suggestion I can give. As with any project or task we have to plan for emergencies or unexpected events. This course was flexible and I appreciate allowing the students to coordinate on their own to create the project. Also, as a group making sure everyone has their fair share of participation and input. Time is of the essence when there is a group project and frequent communication is key to making sure everyone has their part completed.
What did you like or dislike about our online discussions, group project and this
course in general?
Overall, I enjoyed the collaboration in group discussions and projects. I would have liked it to be more interactive for each assignments. Ideally I would of have liked if we had live sessions to discuss topics. Group 1 specifically had their own roles in the project and we all helped out each other when help was needed. I like the format of the course on how each modules was adaptive to what the course is trying to portray. i.e Idea, videos, and opportunity for inquiry to form our own questions and answers.
Understanding Theory
Prior to this course I had some ideas and understanding of learning theories as a Special Education Teacher. I used that to continue the understanding in this course. The project required deep thinking and research on our topic of Learning Styles. I thought I knew what I needed before this project, but it expanded my knowledge on the different learning styles that exist and how each learning style has a cycle and focuses on a different approach of the learner. Connecting the theories and modeling it in the project gave a clear understanding. It gave us ways on how to adapt to the learning style for the learner to understand our project. Some of us in the group chose the same learning style theory but still had information that others members did not have. Being able to give ways a teacher can accommodate the learner really help understand how each learning style is beneficial.
Use examples to tell us how the various learning resources in weekly discussions help you understand the theories and how to apply theories to practice?
As we discuss learning styles and the learning process this course use different ways to help us understand these process. The weekly discussion allowed us to gain understanding from each other in text form. The video helped by giving visual representation of our discussion and topics, and the collaboration on the group project allowed us to gain additional skills on how to adapt the project to each learning style.

Good job, Group 1. One thing I read that resonated with me was that this course (without textbooks to rely on) did require deep thinking in a way that sometimes twisted my brain. I believe this course has caused several epiphanies regarding AE, and that is exciting. So many of us did not understand AE, or worse, thought AE was "only GED classes". As we have learned, it is so much more and then some. It is everything we do as adults - whether it be informal, informal, or nonformal education. Whether we are aware we are practicing AE or not. Modeling AE in our all our projects certainly gave all of us a clear understanding of the critical importance of AE and its associated theories.
